Dear Friends,

To give is virtuous, to give to strangers its quintessence. Thank you once again for your kindness in the wake of the disaster in Nepal.

Nepal is on its way to recovery--slowly and steadily. The situation seems especially hopeful with help from friends around the globe.

I wanted to update you on our campaign’s current standing. When we were planning this fundraiser four months ago we realized the importance of long term projects in full recovery from the disaster. Remaining positive about the response from Drexel community we envisioned rebuilding damaged schools and identified Eutai Mala Nepali (EMN) as the local initiative through which to materialize the idea.

EMN has a vision towards integrated development, in sector including education, health and empowerment. In the first month following the quake, EMN traveled to some of the hardest hit districts to help with immediate needs and to assess the damage. To date EMN has provided relief materials to the most needy survivors of nearly 600 households (about 5500 people), constructed 160 temporary toilets, and conducted first aid and disaster preparedness training for more than 600 locals in different villages. It also built temporary learning centers to run classes and activities for over 350 children.

Currently, EMN is in the village of Gerkhu helping with the construction of 160 temporary shelters as the monsoon drenches the village. From our fundraiser, we have appropriated $500 to this cause. The remaining fund has been allocated for the construction of Mahabhir Primary School (to begin after monsoon), one of five schools that EMN plans to build.

EMN’s presence in the village has been quite instrumental in reviving normalcy in the lives of people. Its vision to empower people by restructuring education, restoring tourism and agribusiness is quite promising for the long term development of the village. For more information, please visit EMN’s website:

It is humbling that the Drexel community could extend help in EMN’s mission. The need is tremendous and our desire to help is equally enormous. Please share this fundraiser campaign with others as you see fit. Overseas, pennies can move mountains. If you or your acquaintances would like to get involved directly with these projects in Nepal, please let us know.

We thank you from the bottom of our heart, and so do thousands others in Nepal.
