Thank you for helping us reach 25%! See more
Lillian and Nathan were both diagnosed with a mild/moderate bilateral hearing loss shortly after birth and began wearing their hearing aids at only 3 and 5 months old. At first, we didn't know what this mean for the developmental future (speech, language, and literacy) and began implementing all the programs available to us for Lillian. Clarke was one of the many key figures of her early education. For those of you who know her, you know how proficient her speech and language truly are (even ahead of normal hearing peers, which is unusual for children with hearing loss). She is continuing to make appropriate progress in Hanover's Integrated Preschool program where she is closely followed by a teacher of the deaf from Clarke to help her work on learning to listen in the classroom, and elsewhere, and advocate for herself during times when she misses communication. Nathan has begun the same route of services Lillian had and is beginning to produce some great early speech sounds. We are hopeful he will develop the same skills Lillian has over the years. We are very thankful to have Clarke School so close to home to aid in getting our children off to the best start and continue to monitor them through their school years. We look forward to continuing our relationship with Clarke as our children grow!
