BENEFITING: SOCCER WITHOUT BORDERS
Hi I'm Lilly Haley. I'm a seventeen year old student at Frontier Regional High School in South Deerfield. This summer I'm going to Nicaragua to volunteer for Soccer Without Borders, a program that helps young girls in Nicaragua find their strength through soccer. In the U.S, it isn't even an option to deny girls the right to play soccer, but in Nicaragua it is frowned upon for girls to be athletic, and they are encouraged to drop out of school at a young age to start a family. By traveling to Nicaragua this summer I hope to accomplish many things such as bringing joy to the girls there, helping spread positivity and showing them the bonds they can form through the sport of soccer. Soccer Without Borders is a very important cause for me for many different reasons. Soccer has been a major part of my life for 13 years and to be able to share the joy of it with girls who may not have that experience is a dream come true. This adventure will give me the opportunity to make a difference in their lives and that means so much to me. I truly can not wait!
