BENEFITING: CONNECTICUT CHILDRENS MEDICAL CENTER
EVENT DATE: Oct 12, 2013
I will once again be running the ING Hartford Half Marathon in loving memory of Lillian Ann Dunkerton. Unfortunately Lily's time here on Earth was limited, but she certainly left something very lasting with me, as well as many others.
Lily has shown the sacredness of life and that every moment on this Earth can and should be cherished and absolutely filled with love. With her memory always with me, my run will be dedicated to Lily, her legacy and the precious gift that she has given to me. The race is on Saturday October 12, which also happens to meaningfully mark Infant Loss Remembrance Month.
That day, I will be running with the universal symbol for infant loss, butterfly wings on my back and of course in my heart. In addition, I will be running for the Connecticut Children's Medical Center (CCMC) which was not only where Lily was treated, but was also her "home" for majority of her short life.
In case you don't know, the CCMC is an amazing place where children are not only given exceptional medical treatment, but they are also given the hope, love, and strength they so desperately need. It was the CCMC that made it possible for Lily's incredible parents and my dear friends, Jeff and Amber, to be blessed with so many beloved moments with her which they will forever hold in their hearts. It was the CCMC that nurtured Lily's amazing strength and enabled her, in her brief life, to know nothing but love. For the children still with the CCMC, Lily's legacy is one of hope, love, and strength.
Over the past few years, Lily's growing team has been able to raise thousands of dollars thanks to so many generous people! Please forward the message of Lily's Legacy and consider supporting the Connecticut Children's Medical Center.
All are welcome to join our team and run, or cheer us on with Jeff, Amber, Lily’s little brother Jack, and some friends and family.
Thank you again!
