BY SUPPORTING ME IN THIS YEAR'S BIKE-A-THON, YOU ARE SUPPORTING THE GROWTH OF CYI!
In less than a year, both the Chinese Progressive Association and its youth program, the Chinese Youth Initiative, have made an enormous impact on my life. Through the work of CPA and CYI, I not only developed as an individual but I also established a network with various community members, fellow activists and members of other organizations, and with other youth from numerous communities. None of this growth or development would have been possible without the Chinese Youth Initiative! The Chinese Youth Initiative is more than just a summer internship for youth; it is a program that builds lifelong leaders and individuals who genuinely care for and openly express their concern for Chinatown and their community. To help continue building a pathway for developing youth leadership for the future, please support me as I ride for the continuation of CYI in this year's 11th annual Chinatown Bike-A-Thon! :) Any donation, big or small can make a big difference!
The 11th Annual Chinatown Bike-A-Thon is scheduled for Saturday, June 20th from 9AM-2PM (Rain Date: June 21st). The Chinatown Bike-a-thon is a green and healthy fundraiser to support youth leadership and a brighter future in our community. The ride is approximately 16 miles on the Paul Dudley White Bike Path along the Charles River. It is a family-friendly event that promotes healthy living and culminates in a picnic on the Boston Common. We are excited to continue to grow our Bike-a-thon and to grow our youth program with your help!
The funds raised from the Chinatown Bike-a-thon directly support Chinese Youth Initiative (CYI). CYI provides internship opportunities to high school aged youth from the Greater Boston area, combining an Asian American Studies curriculum with hands-on community service and organizing projects. Over the past twenty one years, CYI youth have played crucial roles in the campaign for a Chinatown library, voter registration drives, support for immigrant workers’ rights, establishing the first Chinatown Youth Platform, advocating for public transit and much more. CYI graduates have gone on to become teachers, lawyers, planners, artists, community organizers, and entrepreneurs, all working to make a difference in Boston and in the world.
