THE STORY:

It's my birthday and I'm sending out my birthday wish - to rescue, rehabilitate, and re-home the wonderful companion dogs that are being abandoned at alarming rates. However, I need your help to make this happen.

I'm asking you to participate in my birthday donation challenge.

Rescuing lives comes at a great expense – housing, heat in the winter months, cooling mechanisms for the hot desert summers, water and electricity for laundry and dishwashing, veterinary care, food, toys, bedding, etc. And while we receive in-kind donations such as towels and blankets, it’s not enough to fill the financial gap. We need your monetary contributions to continue the rescue work we do.

California is seeing record-breaking rainfall cause an unbelievable amount of damage to businesses and homes. It also means families are displaced and often times their beloved pets end up in the already overcrowded shelter system through no fault of their own.

Your donations allow us to continue to save these innocent, and now homeless, dogs. These pups are begging for help as they sit in an unfamiliar place – scared, cold, alone and waiting for a loving soul to rescue them.

And it’s not just the dogs suffering from the flood conditions who need us. It’s dogs whose families have lost their homes, dogs who have lost their way, dogs that folks could no longer take care of for one reason or another. Won’t you help me, so I can, in turn, help them?

Please make a donation for my birthday to LBWF right now and help me see my birthday dream come true! I've always had a dream to make the world a better place for the animals, but now it's an emergency!

With Gratitude,

Linda Blair

More information from Linda Blair Worldheart Foundation: We had an incredibly difficult 2016 with the extreme heat and fires that much of our emergency funds were depleted. As such, we are asking you to donate today so we can continue our day to day work as well in 2017. In addition, we are in need of supplies to build new dog homes. These are not your typical dog houses - they are large, insulated and comfortable to move around in during inclement weather. We need several thousand dollars to complete the new houses before more rain and spring sets in. As you know, we get extreme weather in the mountains, so your support couldn’t come at a more critical time.

While your donations are needed urgently to home more dogs, any overage goes to our day to day operational expenses such as:

  • Veterinary Care
    • Spay|Neuter
    • Vaccinations
    • Microchipping
    • Routine Annual Exams
    • Medication
  • Dog Supplies
    • Food
    • Treats
    • Toys
    • Bedding
    • Dog Crates (every dog must have a crate in the event we must evacuate)
  • Living Quarters
    • Lumber
    • Plywood
    • Insulation
    • Fencing
    • Larger Water Buckets
    • Hardware (Nails,Screws, Tools, etc)
  • Electricity Expenses
    • To run washing machines
    • Heaters
    • Lights
    • A/C Units
  • Water Costs – we are on a well and must buy all water we use
  • Transport Vehicle Upkeep
  • Office Supplies
  • Cleaning Supplies

In kind donations would be welcomed as well as Volunteers to prepare for the winter months ahead!

____________________________________________________________

As you know, I have been fighting on behalf of bully breeds since the early 2000’s. I stood on the steps of the California State House to ensure breed ban legislation (BSL) would not impact our beloved bully breeds. Nearly 11 years later, it’s still an issue of debate.

Currently BSL is running rampant everywhere. Take the recent, heavily protested government ruling to enforce BSL in Montreal, Canada. Montreal SPCA, in complete opposition to the cities government and Mayor’s decision, filed a law suit immediately against the horrific guidelines to kill so many innocent animals by this ruling. If not death, they are demanding muzzles, and ID gear much like centuries old Scarlett Letter, even if the animal did nothing at all. BSL is a human’s fear based decision to hold a modern day witch hunt on innocent animals.

We are reaching out far and wide to remind our American animal lovers of this constant threat that we live with every day. BSL allows specific breeds to be in jeopardy over others. It stipulates what you can do with your animal, where you can take them, how you can walk them in public, where you can or cannot have them, live with them and other legal avenues of control. It allows insurance companies to force you into surrendering your animal or lose your home owner’s insurance.

The pit bull breed has been ridiculed, misunderstood, victimized, feared, and has more prejudice in the last 30 years than any other animal on the planet. The truth is they are extremely intelligent, loyal, loving, devoted, comedic companions, and yet again they are begging for our help. We here at the Linda Blair Worldheart Foundation, have saved these misunderstood, innocent and condemned dogs, by the thousands. There was a time when folks would run from them. But now they are so loved, and yet still persecuted. They need our help even more than before.

As controversial as the breed ban currently is, the other issue is the backyard breeders. They are breeding and selling dogs by the thousands across America with no control in site. Many of the females we rescue have had so many litters, their nipples droop way down and their bodies are worn. Recovery and rehabilitation take time, which is expensive for rescuers. When these poor, over-bred females can no longer carry a litter, these selfish breeders abandon them to the fields, deserts and streets, or they relinquish them to the shelters. It is out of control and needs to be stopped.

This breed takes the longest for any shelter or rescue group to find proper, forever loving homes. LBWF provides strict contracts, home checks and stands behind them for life. The laws must be put into place and enforced to stop this horrible crisis. Help me stop these atrocities and donate anything you can. Nothing is too small. It all adds up. Rescue demands two things: time and money. We put in the time, and now we are asking for your support with donations. Linda Blair Worldheart Foundation is a 501.C.3 not for profit organization (EIN 20-0279278). We are not funded by any government agency. We rely totally on your donations which are tax deductible.
