BENEFITING: LINDA BLAIR-WORLDHEART FOUNDATION
The Linda Blair Worldheart Foundation is one of the original dog rescues that started in 1997 after Linda lost her beloved mother to Cancer and her last pet dog Peanut to sudden auto immune disease.
Linda's immediate response was to help foster animals in need of rescue. Walking the shelters and seeing so many pets behind shelter fencing, crying out, broke her heart! Moms and puppies, cats and kittens, so she immediately started rescuing, getting vet care, boarding and finding these dogs new forever homes!
In 1997 her first Pit Bull Sunny Boy followed her and her dog home and he changed her life forever. She realized the media had lied about these dogs and they were amazing animals, loving, loyal, funny and absolutely mislabeled, misunderstood and misrepresented by the press and some of the public as well. She fought tirelessly against dog fighting for years in the press, to no avail. Then the headlines came about a certain football player who was busted for his dog fighting and proved Linda had in fact, been telling the truth all along about these criminals!
In 2005 she found herself fighting, nearly alone, on the capital steps in Sacramento, Ca to STOP the certain potential breed ban against them and won! Then a month later Hurricane Katrina stunned America and she spent 2 1/2 weeks living in the back of a truck and rescuing dogs in Louisiana. When she was asked to help get the remaining 350 dogs and cats off the fairgrounds in 4 days she and her rescue friends kicked into action. She herself, saved 51 dogs and transported them across country to safety, got them all the necessary medical care and found them homes!
The Linda Blair Worldheart Foundation animal rescue property, on 2 1/2 acres was born in 2007 and she has continued to save mostly dogs and a few cats, from their death sentences at the shelters, the hard street abandonment, the deserts where they are left to die, home foreclosures, moms and puppies, all through a disastrous, crashed, economy. They have planted shade trees, built doggie cottages and large play yards for the dogs to recover, baby pools in the hot desert summer months and blankets and heaters int the winter to warm them from the freezing desert temperatures, while they wait for their forever homes.
There was a time when we never said no to an animal in need but because the pet over population is out of control we can not keep up with the financial commitments that it takes. We need the public's help to have the funds on hand to say YES to an animals in need!
Linda continues to fight against pet over population, breed bans and breed specific legislation and help animals in need. She has been working with specialist to find the root of Cancer in pets and other diseases that break our hearts. She has wonderful proof its all in the food and treats we give our pets. She works along the top notch veterinarians that help to find answers to help people struggling to keep their pets alive.
Please join the Linda Blair Worldheart Foundation team as they move around the country and right here in CA to help so many worthy animal souls!
Linda's original fight for the environment, saving the oceans and human health issues still remains strong in her foundations heart. The fact remains that without funding in place to keep the dog rescue afloat at any given time and to provide medical care, she must spend 24/7 keeping the dog rescue funded and that can only be done with the public's help as she is a 501 c3 not for profit organization!
