BENEFITING: Domestic Violence & Child Advocacy Center
EVENT DATE: Mar 31, 2014
In honor of my birthday this year, which is March 31st, I have set a personal goal to raise funds to expand Domestic Violence & Child Advocacy Center’s (DVCAC) Safe & Sound Supervised Visitation Center. As you may know, I am the CEO of DVCAC, have been with the agency for 18 years and I know firsthand the critical need to keep children safe. The impact on children is devastating and the demand has never been higher as we have a very long waiting list for services.
The Safe & Sound Supervised Visitation Center is a safe place for children to visit with their non-residential parent when there are safety issues. Facilitating nearly 2000 safe visits and safe exchanges each year, the center supports the most vulnerable children whose family has been splintered by violence, abuse, neglect or other factors such as substance abuse or mental health. Especially in cases of domestic violence, there is a high risk of violence and trauma when parents come together to facilitate a visit and the child may also be at risk to be a target of abuse, witness violence or even be subject to kidnapping. Safe & sound is a child abuse prevention program with added components for safety and healing for domestic violence victims; and parenting programs for non-residential parents.
DVCAC’s current campaign for capital and operational funds for the Visitation Center has a goal of raising $900,000 to move to a new site, renovate the buildings, and expand our service so we may be able to double the amount of visitation sessions per year. I am pleased to inform you that we have raised 66% raising $600,000 toward our goal. While many people are raising money, please help me do my small part in making this vision of a warm, welcoming, child-friendly, safe space, a reality. Please help me to help keep children safe. My goal is to raise $2000 – and any amount would help! Thank you!
