Family and Friends-
As many of you may know, I am an avid yogi and began practicing 5 years ago to cope with the anxiety and stress of living in a big city and transitioning from college life into the "real world." It completely transformed me. Without sounding corny and cliche, it gave me confidence, clarifty, and an internal sense of calm, and taught me that my center was only a few breathes away. In 2016, I decided to get my 200-Hr Yoga Teaching Certification with Y7. When I finished my training, I immediately looked for ways to pass on my newfound knowledge and to give back everything I felt that yoga had given me. I quickly found Exhale to Inhale, a non profit organization that brings trauma-informed yoga to survivors of domestic and sexual violence and the staff who works with them in shelters and community centers. I began teaching for them a few months later. I feel extremely grateful and honored to teach on behalf of ETI and to use this platform to share the healing practice of yoga.
What Exhale to Inhale does is more than just yoga. Exhale to Inhale's trauma-informed yoga classes are a tool that help survivors to reconnect to the power and the strength that they have and have always had inside them so that they may create the lives they want to live. The yoga mat is a safe place where people can begin to reconnect with themselves, to practice making choices, express when something doesn’t feel right to them, and figure out what would work better.
This year, our campaign theme is #itstimetoheal. The #metoo and #timesup movements have empowered people to speak out, they have elevated the conversation around domestic and sexual violence, and they've made it clear that these issues aren’t just women’s issues. They’re human issues, business issues, community issues, and public health issues. Now, #itstimetoheal.
If you are able, we would be so grateful if you would be willing to make a donation or to pass this link along to people you may think would be interested in supporting an amazing cause. Each donation you make goes directly to support services for survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault.
Please let me know if you have any questions!
