BENEFITING: COLON CLUB
For those who don't know, Lindsey was diagnosed with Stage 3 colon cance last April while pregnant with our first child. We now have a totally healthy 1 year old girl and Lindsey continues her battle with the disease. The complete story can be found at her Caring Bridge site: http://www.caringbridge.org/visit/lindseymotley Since her diagnosis, Lindsey had become very involved with "The Colon Club", an organization whose mission is to encourage colon talk so that people are informed about the risk factors and get screened at the appropriate time. Their mission is a worthy one, and I want to help raise money to support their cause.
I have 14 weeks of training left and 26.2 miles on race day. I'm thinking that I'll run around 500 miles or so between now and race day. If you believe in the mission please consider supporting the Colon Club. (http://www.colonclub.com/about-the-colon-club/). I'm asking people to donate per mile trained by me up to the race. I'll post all my training runs on Facebook so anyone who wants to can follow along.
I'm asking people to consider sponsoring me at 1 penny a mile, a nickel a mile, or whatever you want per mile. Then I'll go out and train my tail off to run for Lindsey and everyone else who has been touched by this disease. Thanks in advance for your support.
Oh yeah, one more thing, don't be afraid of Colon Cancer screening! Get it done when the time is appropriate. It might just save yours or someone you love's life.
