BENEFITING: INTERNATIONAL RELIEF TEAMS
EVENT DATE: May 16, 2015
There has been unrest in the world lately. I see negativity, fighting, hate all over social media. I naturally seek common ground with confrontation and I have found that it is this: we all care about the well being of man kind. We have all struggled and therefore can sympathize with the struggling. We have all felt alone and therefore can sympathize with the forgotten. It is innate to have compassion. We as a country may not agree on most things, but we can agree that when someone's world comes crashing down we should help. The recent earthquake in Nepal has brought such devastation. The death toll is currently above 5,500 and there are tens of thousands that are now homeless. The people effected were given no control, no choice. We now can choose for them to stand together and give them aid, regardless of what side of the barricade we stand on.
I have been training for the Ogden marathon for months now and have decided to dedicate it to helping the victims of the earthquake. Ideally, I would like to raise a hundred dollars for each mile I run. On May 16 I will run 26.2 miles in honor of this cause.
This money will 100% be donated to International Relief Teams, a vetted four-star charity that specializes in disaster relief. They are working to airlift shipments of emergency medicines to aid the victims.
If you have already made donations to a charity, please feel no obligation. This is about getting help there. But if you haven't, please consider clicking on the link. As a bonus, you get to be the reason I sweat and fight to the finish that day.
