Many people think that lions live in paradise on the African savanna, and that they are thriving in big numbers. This is unfortunately far from the truth. Today, only a maximum of 25.000 lions remain on the African continent and under 2000 of them are living in Kenya. In the 1950's these number were quite different. Actually 90% more individuals roamed the landscape and truly lived like the king of the jungle. If action for their conservation and well-being is not taken soon, it will not be many years before one can only watch lions in captivity and our next generations will not be able to experience these wonderful creatures in the wild and in their natural environment.
