Lisa in need of an insulin pump
Organized by: Lisa Thompkins
I have been trying for over 10 years to get insulin pump. I have seen Dr. Holden at KGH about my diabetes for years, I have been in contact with all sorts of pump companies, all organizations in Kingston and no one seems to be able to help me. First of all I am type 2 not type 1, that seems to be the problem. If I was a type 1 diabetic I would of had no problem in getting what I need to help me with everyday life which includes eating properly, taking me sugars 5 plus times a day, taking 5 plus needles and to make sure I eat when I am suppose to. Many people think it is not problem and if they don't have it they don't need to hear about it or it is only fat people who have it. I have contacted The Whig Standard twice and no reply, CKWS Tv twice and no reply, the MP no reply, the MPP who has worked with me since the fall and she checked everyone organization in Kingston that I have contacted in the past and received the same answers I did. I have contacted The Prime Minister and he sent a reply back to look into APD threw the government and again only type 1's get it paid for. However I did find a link that does say that the government will pay for it if you do 5 or more needles a day, contacted them and again no reply. I do work full time, have a son and yes I do have benefits that will cover everything to run the device but they will not cover the actual device. I am so frustrated in contacting different organizations and keep getting told sorry "we can not help you". The actual Diabetes organization told me when I contacted them is "that any donations they receive goes to finding a cure", not to help people get devices that will help there health over years to come. I was so shocked when I heard this. This is my last resort to get help, so if anyone can help me get closer to helping my health and family we would be so thankful.
