BENEFITING: Pulmonary Hypertension Association Inc
EVENT DATE: Oct 03, 2015
Thank you for visiting this site, which I've set up for one of my best friends, Lisa Thornton. Many of you know that Lisa was diagnosed with a progressive life threatening disease called Pulmonary Hypertension (PH) in April 2014 and has spent over 250 days in the hospital since diagnosis. PH causes high pressures in the lungs and often results in heart failure. Currently, there are multiple medications to help adults with their symptoms but there are NO medications FDA approved for children with PH. Furthermore, there is NO cure for this disease today other than a double lung & heart transplant, which carries its own set of risks and a high mortality rate.
Lisa's love & passion is being a Nurse practitioner in family medicine and working as an Advice line nurse for Children's Healthcare of Atlanta. However, Lisa's greatest source of joy, love & passion comes from her faith in Jesus Christ. She knows the scary statistics regarding the prognosis of PH, yet she often tells others, that "IF God believed in statistics, I wouldn't be here right now". Also, she believes that God has a purpose and plan in the good and bad times & her greatest hope is to bring glory to God and provide hope to others in the midst of her struggles.
With this in mind, I have created this group entitled, "Lisa's Prayer Warriors for PH". It is my hope that Lisa feels & sees the power of prayers among her army of family, friends, & with new friends, who are believing God for a miraculous healing in her life. Also, it's my hope that we can raise a money to improve the quality of life among PH patients (newborn-geriatrics) across the globe. This is one of Lisa's latest goals/mission.
Please join us on Oct. 3rd at 11:00 am-2:00 pm for the 12th Annual GA PHA Fun Walk for a Cure. Bring your friends & family (dogs welcomed) for a 1 mile walk, great food, fellowship and a FUN time. Please click this link Lisa's Prayer Warriors for PH to register for the walk. Registration is open until the event, but if possible register by Sept 3rd and receive the discounted "early bird special"(price includes a t-shirt & Chic-Filet lunch).
Also, please consider donating to the Pulmonary Hypertension Association (PHA) on my (Kimber Parrish) fundraiser page on behalf of Lisa Thornton and many other Pulmonary Hypertension (PH) patients. The fundraiser proceeds are divided in half between research and patient services. Every dollar donated is one step closer to improving the lives of PH patients and ultimately finding a cure for this life threatening disease affecting children & adults alike.
