THE STORY:

My parents had 7 kids, we were close. Life sent us all in different directions and now we live in different states, miles from each other. I LOVE my sister so much! We have talked over the phone and helped each other get through life's everyday challenges thru the years. On My sister's 50th birthday, all my sisters and our mom gathered together for a fun and relaxing day together at a spa! We had never done that before. It was expensive, but we made it happen in order to make it memorable. It was so special & now we have pictures of us all together! Little did we know that at the time we were celebrating Lisa's milestone birthday, she had a brain tumor growing in the middle of her brain! A few months later, a strange thing happened: she fell in the bathtub. She felt a little funny and had a difficult time viewing the computer screen for work. Lisa has worked as a nurse for the past 20 yrs or so, in Atlanta, Georgia predominately helping children. Because she thought she might have a concussion, she went to her Doctor. She found out she did have a concussion and two broken ribs from the fall. But something else also... they told her, "there is an area in the brain we need to look at more closely." They found a tumor! Then, they had to drill a hole in her skull to verify and get a sample to find out what exactly it was. Why would it have to be MY sister to have the fastest growing kind of tumor AND in an area they couldn't operate on? We found out she has advanced (stage 4) glioblastoma multiforme in the middle part of her brain. This tumor is encompassing her thalamus, the part of the brain that controls muscle movement, senses and your sleep/wake cycle among other things. They can't take it out! So, I believe her guardian angel gave her a little push that day in order for her to seek treatment as early as possible. Most people don't know they have a brain tumor until they have symptoms like vision loss, seizures, migraines or drooling! This tumor is really there, it's really bad. The doctors say she would be dead in 3 months without treatment. The treatment is chemotherapy medication daily and radiation treatments every day for the next 6 weeks. She has a 5% survival rate. Survive how long? I don't know. 95 out of 100 people who get glioblastoma die. Why do I think my sister is going to be like one of the five to survive? Because she has to! My sister has to live! My sister has to be cured of this cancer because life without her would be unimaginable. She has 3 children and a husband that need her and love her. There love is no "Gone with the wind" dramatic love affair. There's is a pure fall in love with a true southern gentleman, where they have been raising 3 beautiful smart and good children and have been married 29 years. They go to church, they pray, they help people in need, they work hard, they don't scam the government, they pay their bills or have been able to before Lisa's cancer. Has there life been perfect? No. Has it been easy? No. Have they worked hard together to make life's important things happen? YES! Now that Lisa cannot work, finances have cut in half, temporarily. When disability runs out, there will be no financial support available. Your financial support, be it $1 to whatever you are able to send, will help pay for overwhelming medical bills and help at the grocery store. Please be generous, it will go to help good people in great need. You're help is needed and very much appreciated! May God bless my sister Lisa, her family and YOU too! Thank you for reading this far. This has been a heartbreaking sobbing kind of story to share. To write it, has knocked me down with the fact that it is really happening to her and not just any sad story to walk away from and forget. She can't just turn the channel to experience a happy story. I hope this helps ease some of the burdens they are facing and that you in turn are blessed with peace, happiness and all your heart needs.  This fundraising website company is one of the best out there and a trustworthy business.  If donating thru this site is uncomfortable for you - just call me and I will give you Lisa's mailing address - so you can help support her directly if you'd like.  920 621-5683.
