On May 9, 2016 I depart for Anchorage, Alaska to begin an expedition up Denali and I am very proud to climb in support of The Robin Hood Foundation’s fight to end poverty in New York.
I got the inspiration to climb Denali to benefit Robin Hood quite naturally. Perhaps it is because as a climber “survival” is such a raw thing. There are so many here in NYC that have to do this every day though unlike me, they do not do it by choice… and I can reasonably expect my discomfort will be temporary. In contrast, poverty is complex and has enormous staying power because it is often brought about by multiple forces acting at once. So the idea of fighting poverty should also have many moving parts and Robin Hood is great at this.
In the mountains, you need to know the difference between what you want and what you need. I believe plenty of folks need a hand up, not a hand out so I want to use my Denali climb to reveal these correlations between survival in the mountains and survival in the city. Please note my climbs and travel are completely self-funded. All donations go direct to Robin Hood whose own proven process makes it super easy to know for sure the money gets where it has to go. Thank you SO MUCH for your support.
