Nearly 3 years ago, on 8/16/11, Jen woke up with a pain in her neck. The pain intensified and then over a matter of hours, she lost the ability to use both hands, sit, and walk. An MRI later showed that her body attacked her spinal cord from C1-T1. Jen has made some great gains, but does continue to struggle daily with the effects of TM. The biggest challenges that she still has is with paralysis/weakness in her right arm and hand, chronic pain throughout her body, and chronic fatigue. Jen takes multiple daily medications because of TM and continues under the care of a team of specialists. Please support Jen and her efforts to raise awareness and funds for the Transverse Myelitis Association.
BENEFITING: The Transverse Myelitis Association
The goal of the Illinois Walk-Run-N-Roll Campaign is to increase awareness and raise funds for research and programs for individuals suffering from Acute Disseminated Encephalomyelitis (ADEM), Neuromyelitis Optica (NMO), Optic Neuritis (ON), Transverse Myelitis (TM) and Recurrent Transverse Myelitis, and their caregivers.
The second annual Illinois Walk-Run-N-Roll for the Transverse Myelitis Association (TMA) will begin with Registration from 10 to 11 a.m., followed by the Walk-Run-N-Roll and a Post-Walk Celebration. It will be held at beautiful McCollum Park, 6801 South Main Street, Downers Grove, IL. Proceeds will benefit TMA's research and service programs for people with TM, NMO, ON and ADEM.
Everyone is invited to register, donate and spread the word. Teams are now forming. For information, contact Liz Beutel at email@example.com or 630-922-5833
