BENEFITING: LISTENING EAR INCORPORATED
The Listening Ear was established in 1969 to serve residents throughout the greater Lansing area in times of crisis. We define crisis as any situation in which one’s normal coping mechanisms are ineffective or unavailable. Our all-volunteer staff takes thousands of calls and walk-in clients annually and has 60+ hours of training in order to deal with crises including depression, suicide, domestic violence, sexual assault, grief and more. Our sexual assault team also provides free short-term counseling to those directly and indirectly affected by sexual assault encounters. We are seeking funds to maintain operations and to upgrade our technology to better serve our callers and clients.
