Listen! She's Got a Lot to Say
Organized by: TWOC Stories
This project works to gather and document the stories of trans women of color throughout the U.S. via audio recordings. These stories will then be edited and shared online. We will be traveling primarily by bicycle around the country for a year talking with trans women of color who want to share their stories. We need to raise funds to compensate the storytellers for their time, as well as cover the cost of audio equipment and any project-related emergencies. Any funds remaining at the end of the project will be given to organizations directly engaged in supporting trans women of color communities.
Any funds you can offer are so greatly appreciated. The more money that we can raise, the more stories we will be able to gather!
Do you know any trans women of color who would be willing to share their stories? Gray's schedule is very flexible, and they will come to wherever folks are who want to share their stories! We will be audio-recording the stories and sharing them online. Participants will be offered compensation for their time. Stories may be recorded anonymously if participants so desire, and we take confidentiality and disclosure very seriously. We hope to work with each storyteller individually to make their sharing process as comfortable and real as possible for them: visuals are optional, length of interview will vary, all questions function as guidelines and are not required. Storytellers may tell a story to a friend and we will record it, or may choose to have a conversation with us directly.
Gray is a white, transmasculine person working on this project, and is doing so in collaboration with QTPOC folks and non-QTPOC allies. They want to be real and critical about their engagement in this work, and would love to talk with you about it if you have questions.
Vita E is a black, transfeminine poet and collaborator on this project, and is also open to conduct interviews as her travels continue.
