Little Joe's Memorial Walk
Organized by: Marcela De Leon
Cancer had never affected my life directly in anyway. Indirectly perhaps through my son's nurse. This is not a walk for him though. My father Jose Luis Leon was taken too early by melanoma. What started out as a mole suddenly turned into the fight for his life. Being Mexican, a man, and used to working in the sun a mole was not a big deal for someone like my father. By the time he decided to go see a Dr., It was a bit too late. Even though he looked healthy on the outside, his body was being invaded on the inside by a very aggressive monster. I would like to honor him by joining a friend on one of her walks in Seattle in 2018. I am giving myself this time frame in order to begin walking here in my home town and be ready physically and mentally when the time comes. Your donations would help with travel expenses, lodging, and other necessities. I am at the moment in need of a corneal transplant but that will not hinder this walk for my dad. He was funny, strong willed, and a hard worker. I miss him deeply and wish to honor him.
