On September 26th at 10:00 am CrossFit Spur will be hosting a WOD ("Workout of the Day" in honor of Abby Sayles - this is the link to her FB page "Amazing Abby." ( A little over a month ago Abby was the internet sensation that married her favorite nurse. Recently (as Abby's mother Rene states on her above FB page). Abby's incredible mother has teamed up with Captain Competition ( and CrossFit Spur to help raise as much money and awareness as possible for the Nick's Fight to be Healed Foundation ( This foundation has been incredible to the family and helped them through many rough patches. Now the family wants to help them. They want to help raise awareness for Childhood Cancer and help others learn to advocate for it. The workout will include: - Teams of 4 athletes ....this can be any team of 4 you want - mixed together however you want (there are no divisions of scaled, Rx, beginners, etc) . We are encouraging you to bring friends, family, significant others ANYONE who is willing to sweat for a cause. - The workout will be able to be done by anyone and everyone! Don't be intimidated. It will be hard enough to get you to sweat and raise your heart rate a little bit - BUT ALL CAN DO IT or Scale it appropriately. - In order to sign up - ....YOU MUST PURCHASE A TUXEDO T-SHIRT. These shirts were created by CrossFit Spur to honor the tuxedo t-shirt Abby's nurse wore for their wedding. ...these shirts sell for $20 per shirt - ALL PROCEEDS WILL BE DONATED ......Kids AND Adults can participate in this workout!!! - IF YOU CANNOT MAKE THE EVENT and want to make a donation - ANY donation will be incredibly generous and very helpful! - The team with the most creative gold costume/outfit will win a fantastic prize!!!! - More info on the WOD will be posted soon. The National Cancer Institute (NCI) has a budget of 4.9 BILLION is anticipated that Childhood cancer research will receive 4% of that sum ($195 million). ....every day 46 kids are diagnosed with cancer ....1 in 330 will develop cancer by the age of 20 Spread the knowledge. Help the community raise awareness for a disease that affects so many we know and love.
