Little Gray's Vet Bills
Organized by: Karen Richards
On Sunday Aug 8th, our very kindhearted friend Lisa Osmon, who has cared for feral cats on her property in Indiana for years, was approached by this very sick little gray kitty. He was unable to walk properly and was crying. This is a cat that hasn't ever let her touch him, but this time he walked right up to her and let her pick him up. On the 40 mile drive to the nearest 24 hour emergency vet, he wanted to be petted all the way or he would cry. He tested FIV positive so will be unable to be around healthy cats, and as of today, Gray is not walking correctly and definitely has neurological damage. Whether it was a trauma/injury, poison, or just advancement of his FIV, we will never know. It seems unlikely that he'll ever be able to live outside again, as it it unknown if he will regain any good function-or possibly get worse-seizures etc. He is only occasionally using a littler box, and will have to be cleaned often. Lisa is opting to let him stay another night at the vet to keep him on fluid IV and hopes to get him to where he can drink enough water to stay hydrated. He is eating. She is going to bring him home and keep him in a large kennel for as long as she can to help him and monitor him, while she looks for a more permanent arrangement for him, but she has an older cat and chihuahua that aren't going to be the best for the Gray, nor he for them! All funds raised will go to North Central Veterinary Emergency Center in Westville, IN ps - she really fought me on this but i figured if i wanted to help, that others would too. any little bit helps!
