family bus shelter
Organized by: David Pelaez
I am a father of 3 boys who are 10, 6, and 3 years old who stay with me Fri-Sun every week. The cost of living is really high and I cannot seem to afford a place of my own. Since August 2015 I have been renting my friends living room in Venice. My goal was to secure a better paying job (whicch I have now) and save up for a place that my kids and I can have to ourselves. All the living places I have applied for have either denied me because of my credit or have required a large sum of money to move in. Did I mention the $25-$30 every time I went to apply? Moving and finding a place can be stressful and seem never ending. After a 2 month search I decided to buy a bus and convert it into a RV for my family and me. So I bought a 30ft school bus with the desire to make it our home. The bus was easier to find and purchase than renting a place to live! Now I have the bus and have been painting it and doing everything I can on my own. I am not the handiest person. I realize that its going to take more than what I can do on my own like the frame work in the interior for the beds, shower, bathroom, kitchen and living area. Tires for a bus range from $250+ each and I have 6 tires that need to be replaced . The brakes and hoses underneath the bus also need to be replaced, that's $1500, now imagine the cost to convert a Bus into a RV? Not cheap, but cheaper than renting a apartment for a year that's for sure! Help me raise the funding to convert our bus into a living space. Your support is helping out my family in need of a better living situation and through this project inspiring other families who might find themselves in the same boat. I want to give back and share my story with the world. Your help will help me pay it forward.
