Live love and life for Lexi
Organized by: Brian Hamilton
Live love and life for Lexi is a fundraiser to help Alexis "Lexi" Hamilton, pay for her medical treatments. She has been in and out of hospitals since she was little and has un-diagnosed internal health problems that rack her body with pain, robb her of energy and make it all but impossible to eat with out fear of making the pain worse. Now we are finding out that she has pre cancer cells around her cervix that needs to be removed immediately , or her health will only get worse. she has an English degree but was never able to use it due to her health, she has had one job in three years,(fast food) again her health prevented her from being able to continue . Lexi has a husband, Brian Hamilton, who is the soul bread winner and has only been able to work dead end minimum wage jobs, which as we all know, is not enough to support 2 people much less pay doctors and medical bills. Her parents refuse to help them anymore, they feel that after paying off her college tuition ($15,000) last year and having a weeks worth of test ran on her at the doctors, they have helped all they are willing, even though those test are what found the pre cancer cells and she was told told to get treatment within a month. That month has passed and Lexi is still in dire need of a biopsy and Cryo-surgery to stop the pre cancer cells from spreading , But her husband lost his job about the same time the test where being done. Although he found another job almost immediately he has yet to start working due to a lagg in his background check returning. So now Lexi sits at home , stuck in bed most days waiting for something to give so that she can get the help she needs. Brian does all he can to help make her days easier, and is grateful that his family will let them live in the family home and keep food in their bellies, even though they can barely afford to keep the house and themselves up, while he waits to start the new job . Why is she not on medicare or disability you may ask your self. They live in Alabama and the state qualifications for medicare state in a nutshell you must be Pregnant, elderly , or disabled to receive medicare. they refuse to get pregnant to force the system to help, shes only 25, and to be declared disabled you have to go to a doctor who will support you claim to get you started, which Brings us back to needing money to see a doctor. Lexi is stuck in a vicious cycle that is nearly impossible to break with out help from others. if this cause isnt worth helping i dont know one that is. $5000 is a drop in the bucket when it comes to medical expenses, but its more than enough to get the ball rolling and get her the procedures she desperately needed yesterday.
