This is my 6th consecutive year running the Falmouth Road Race--I'm so excited to run & raise for SMILE Mass. I started running for SMILE Mass in 2014. I signed up for the Cape Cod Ragnar. I didn't even know it was a fundraiser for SMILE Mass. I had to raise $600. We were raising funds for beach accessible wheelchairs. We drove around the whole weekend with a beach wheelchair on top of our van. To date, SMILE Mass has donated over 100 beach accessible wheelchairs to the Cape, Maine, NH, Martha's Vineyard, and Nantucket. SMILE Mass' goal is to make activities that most of us take for granted possible for those living with disabilities. Their beach wheelchair program is doing just that. In 2016, I ran my first race pushing a SMILE Mass running stroller. Chloe and I completed a 5k in Portsmouth, NH on January 1st. On May 22, 2016 I completed my first stroller marathon with my friend Victoria in Copenhagen, Denmark for team SMILE Mass--I'd run marathons before, but to do it for someone who couldn't was life changing. I'm so proud to run for Team SMILE Mass. The work they do for families and children living with disability is so important. I've run two races this year pushing strollers, King Nicholas in June and Tony in July, and to see the joy on their faces is incredible. Through knowing Lotte, Nicholas, and the rest of SMILE Mass I have gotten to see more of the world than I would have while supporting the work that Lotte & SMILE Mass do for families with children with disabilities. If you can donate, even the smallest amount, to the work that Lotte & SMILE Mass do, I would greatly appreciate it.
