Thank you to all of you who donated to our Saving Pets Challenge. I wanted to share this video with everyone who specifically donated to help us save Darla. She is still undergoing physical therapy once a week and she has yet to complete her heartworm treatment, but I believe she will make a 100% recovery. It's hard to believe it's been 3 long months since we found her. Watch this video below.

We have the same commitment to each and every dog or cat we rescue. Thank you for helping us fight to save as many as we can.

As you remember, we also received a $10,000 donation for spay/neuter for dogs. This we named Maddie's Friends in honor of the dog adopted from us who sparked the donation. So far we are about 30% through that donation as we are fixing dogs in need. Thank you for helping us rescue and spay/neuter as many as we can.

The Saving Pets Challenge ended yesterday and I wanted to personally thank all of you for helping Adopt an Angel raise over $33,000. $23,000 came in online and places us 12th place out of over 500 groups competing nationwide. That is really admirable and we have to thank you for carrying us that far. We even won a $2,000 bonus challenge along the way. While we didn't place in the top 5 and win any of the bigger prizes, we do get to keep everything we raised. This is our biggest fundraiser of the year and this will really help us pay our annual vet bills and save lots of animals including Darla. Included in that $33,000 is a $10,000 anonymous matching donation that is slated for a spay/neuter program for dogs living in under served neighborhoods. So, basically---we will do a lot of good with this money. Once again--we thank you for helping us help them! You are the best people in the world and we LOVE you.

Thank you so much for your support—especially your generous donation to Adopt an Angel through the Saving Pets Challenge! So many animals need help and many groups are trying to help them. That you choose to show your concern for homeless pets through Adopt an Angel is very touching to me personally, as it is to every volunteer who works on your behalf.

We are making progress—in rescue and widespread spay/neuter—and we’ll never give up until we can save them all. With your continuing support, we believe that dream can come true.

“Thank you” is inadequate, and I hope you see what your gift really means in our Facebook page pictures of animals safely home at last!

Last year, you donated to Adopt an Angel's Saving Pets Challenge and helped us raise over $32,000 placing us in 12th place in the entire country.

That money helped us save a record breaking 1130 animals in 2015. We are once again competing in the Saving Pets Challenge again this year. We are one week into the campaign and we are currently in 11th place out of 508 groups competing. The top 5 groups will earn $150,000 in grant money. Even if we don't win, we do get to keep all the money we raise. If you have already helped us this year we THANK YOU! If you haven't had a chance to donate yet--or may not know we are competing again---we are and we really need your help. The link to donate is
https://www.crowdrise.com/adoptanangel-SP2016. We have been offered a $10,000 matching donation if we can raise $10,000 and we are very, very close. The bills of rescue are so expensive and the more we save the more it costs. We would LOVE YOU if you supported our cause so we can save more. Any way you can share or fundraise for our cause would be helpful too. We are competing against much larger organizations in much larger cities. Help us save local animals homeless in our very own back yards.

Dear Adopt an Angel Family, …
Dear Adopt an Angel Family,
I wanted to let you all know that we recently received a grant from Network For Good for all the proceeds that we raised in the Saving Pets Challenge. It was close to $30,000 and it came from all of you. We took 13th place in the entire country out of close to 300 groups and that is a testament to the 296 people who contributed to this campaign.

In 2014, 5938 animals lost their lives due to pet overpopulation in Brunswick, New Hanover and Pender County animal control shelters and I know that breaks all of our hearts. I want you to know that we are doing all we can physically do to save as many as we can. Our spay/neuter clinic fixed 139 pets last week and we are pushing harder and harder to do as many as we can to prevent pet overpopulation at its roots. We are calling all free kittens on Craig's list and offering to fix mother cats for free and we can do this because of this grant.

Every weekend we are holding marathon adoption fairs and adoptions every day in 3 pet stores. Right now we are in the thick of kitten season and we are literally swimming in homeless kittens. Shelters are overflowing and beg us weekly for help. We are running a special where it's "Adopt One Get One Free" hoping to get more kittens into homes quicker so we can save more. This Saving Pets Grant helps us do this. Many adult cats are languishing homeless while people have eyes only for kittens so we are waiving fees on adult cats to level the playing field for them. This grant helps us do this.

Recently, New Hanover County Animal Services had 4 dogs come into the shelter hit by a car over July 4th weekend. Resources from this grant helped us save two of them. One is named Archie and his knee is injured and his growth plate is affected. He needs the services of ECVR (a specialty vet) to repair his knee. This grant helps us help Archie. Countless dogs with heartworms are being treated and even senior dogs like Church, Sampson, Delilah, Charlotte, Joey Pepperoni and Macy are getting chances that they never would have gotten before. We can assure you that 2015 will see less animals euthanized in our area shelters. We are trying harder than we have ever tried before and our army of volunteers is bigger and stronger. Thank you for helping us help them. Thank you for helping us SAVE PETS!
I am forever grateful for your support.
Sincerely,
Jill Jones

We wanted to thank you for your help with this Saving Pets Challenge. You have been a great supporter of Adopt an Angel and we have always been able to count on you to lend a helping hand. Right now, we are in 12th place in the entire USA out of 300 groups. There are 4 more days to go. There is grant money available to the top 5 groups and we are very close. There is one last challenge that begins at 2 pm tomorrow. They will match the first 100 $25 donations made to all the groups. It will be a FAST challenge so if you would consider sending a $25 donation at 2 pm, it could be matched. The link to donate is here: https://www.crowdrise.com/aaa-savingpets2015

Thank you so much for your donation to Adopt an Angel's Saving Pets Challenge. Right now, we are in 5th place all across the country out of 292 groups so you are helping us already achieve great things. We are up against big cities such as Houston and Philadelphia, but wouldn't it be great if Wilmington, NC actually won $50,000 to help save homeless pets? It costs us $142 on average to save JUST ONE pet so $50,000 could help save 352 more animals. Or it could spay or neuter an additional 700 dogs. Or it could spay or neuter 1111 cats. It would really help us save more lives. We thank you for caring about homeless pets and choosing to rally for our rescue. Keep following our progress since this campaign goes on until June 5. Keep sharing for us too because we want to make a difference!
Sincerely,
Jill Jones, treasurer
