BENEFITING: Refugee Transitions
I've decided to use this special birthday to fundraise for a brilliant charity whose work is really close to my heart.
Refugee Transitions is a San Francisco Bay Area charity supporting newly-arrived refugees through education, training and community leadership programs.
For the last 30 years, it has welcomed thousands of refugees fleeing conflict or deprivation, from Afghanistan and Burma to Nepal and Sri Lanka.
Last year, the charity helped nearly 1,900 newcomers from 56 countries via the help of around 270 volunteers. (For more, see http://www.reftrans.org/rtglance/)
The current refugee crisis means that Refugee Transitions is more in demand than ever before. Extra funding will help it to support families in need, and to share its knowledge with other organizations welcoming refugees.
I've seen up close the huge difference that this small charity makes each day. Honestly, the best possible birthday present would be a donation to support this vital work.
Thanks for reading this far, and a huge thank you if you decide to make a gift.
Much love, Liza xx
