Louisiana SAYS:
The Louisiana Chapter of the…
The Louisiana Chapter of the National Lawyers Guild sends a heartfelt thank you to YOU and all who supported the movement for justice in Baton Rouge and beyond by contributing to the bail fund for the peaceful protesters unlawfully arrested in Baton Rouge. Because of your generosity, all who were arrested were promptly bailed out. The NLG has also coordinated criminal defense attorneys for each arrestee, continues to operate a 24/7 legal hotline, provide legal observers at every protest or rally, provide Know Your Rights and Realities trainings, assist with civil law suits, and provide advisory support to the community organizers to create longer-term systemic change. This bail fund continues to be carefully and ethically managed and operated by a board of attorneys, organizers, and directly-impacted people to provide ongoing support to the movement. Thank you again for your generosity, thoughtfulness, and support.
With deep gratitude and continuing in the struggle for justice,
Sister Alison McCrary, President on behalf of the board and all members of the

Covington, LA United States
CROWDRISING SINCE: Mar 16, 2015
Stuff About Me:

Liz Bragdon of Our Place Studio and Reina Solano of Shop Soul Boutique have joined forces to take part in the “500 Women for Hope House” campaign. The goal of the campaign is to raise $100 (or more) from 500 women to benefit the Children’s Advocacy Center – Hope House. The independent, non-profit organization is dedicated to ending the cycle of child abuse in our community.

Liz and Reina are collecting items from local craftspeople, artists and businesses in the community that they will raffle off to raise their funds. “We are the organizers, but our creative and generous Covington community is providing the fuel and fire. So for us this is truly a community-driven “CovLuv” campaign!” says Liz.

A list of all of the awesome stuff being raffled will be available 3/19 (Thursday). Raffle tickets will go on sale 3/20.

Raffle tickets may be bought at Our Place Studio (338 N Vermont) and Shop Soul Boutique (529 E Boston) starting this Friday. Tickets will also be available at the Kombucha Girl table at the Covington Farmer’s Market Saturday. If you would like to donate an item for the raffle, call Liz at Our Place – 985.875.1182 or Reina at Shop Soul – 985.258.4080.
