LJ was just 18 months old when I noticed he was bruising easily and the bruises weren’t going away. Doctors initially diagnosed him with a life-threatening blood condition and then later with leukemia. LJ had four rounds of high-dose chemo. During this time, he couldn’t go outside and play with other children. His blood condition put him at risk for internal bleeding, and the chemotherapy weakened his immune system.
LJ has always wanted to go to the park and play, something he hasn’t been able to do since being diagnosed so young. When he found out that he would get a wish, LJ immediately thought of a playset for his backyard—something special he can enjoy every day after the stresses of his many doctor appointments and medical procedures.
