As I am coming upon my three year mark since diagnosis, I wanted to do something to honor my health. Running my first half marathon as part of the LLS team felt like the right thing to do!
My Story: I made the decision to run almost exactly three years from the day I was told I had Lymphoma. Never did I think my "runner's knee" could be something so life changing. I remember the moment like it was yesterday and knew that my life would never be the same. So much changed in my life during the next month and I quickly became sick of hospitals and meeting new doctors. I did not know much about Lymphoma at the time and relied on my doctor to tell me all he knew about it. My doctor had a lot of research and research papers ready for me to read. As he explained my treatment plan he used the research to support the decisions made and how the plan would be carried out.
During my treatment I met a lot of amazing people from patients to nurses. I shared my story and fight with family, friends, and students. Now I wanted to do something to give back and help others fighting blood cancers. The funds raised through this campaign go to research cures and treatments for blood cancers. You never know the life that could be saved or pro-longed due to the research of LLS.
Thank you for supporting me on this great adventure of mine!
