BENEFITING: The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society
ORGANIZER: LLS Charity Runners
EVENT DATE: May 05, 2013
I'm planning to run Pittsburgh's Half Marathon on May 5th 2013- the eve of my 26th birthday. I know- you must think I'm crazy! I have never ran anywhere close to 13.1 miles before simply because it is TOO FAR. But I figured- If I'm going to get my ass into shape (and I mean in rreeeeeaalll good shape) I better do it before I'm 26... otherwise it will never happen. Am I right?
To be honest though, running a half marathon has never been a goal of mine. So here's the real reason I'm running- One of my friends was just diagnosed with lymphoma. She is the cutest, most bubbly girl ever, and has always been an avid runner. She typically runs the half every year, but this year, we have a team together to run it for her!
In order to run for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, I need to raise $250 for the charity. That will cover my registration fee and the rest to support medical research.
If you feel so inclined- help by donating and I will in turn by YOU a drink for my 26th birthday! I know some of you have only enough spare change to buy crackers and beer at the end of the week. So if that is the case- I welcome any advice or training routines (a jogging partner or words of encouragement work too).
Registration and fundraising minimum due March 15th
