BENEFITING: The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society
ORGANIZER: LLS Charity Runners
EVENT DATE: May 05, 2013
This year I am running the Pittsburgh Marathon on May 5th, 2013. I teamed up with the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society to raise money and help fight against blood cancers.
My fundraising goal is $500, but I truly would like to raise closer to $1000 in honor of my grandma, Helen McMahan.
My grandma spent, 20 years in and out of remission with Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma. Her doctor called her a "miracle women", because no matter what, she always seemed to beat it. Finally, in late December she was hospitalized with a bowel obstruction and a mass was found in her bowel. She underwent surgical removal but ultimately was too weak following surgery. She passed on January 6th, 2013.
Our loss is Heaven's gain.
Over the next 17 weeks I plan to train hard- remember those who have been lost to cancer, and all of those individuals who are battling it this current day. All 26.2 miles of the marathon will be dedicated to my grandmother. She was one of the most kind hearted, loving people I have ever had the pleasure of knowing- a true inspiration to many.
Please help me in raising money for the LLS. Click the DONATE button- every last penny will be much appreciated. The money raised will go towards medical research and patient services.
Thank you all for your time and support!
