About Logan

(written by his brothers Tanner and Zachary Penzabene)

Logan Penzabene always put a smile on the faces of those who spent time with him. On the soccer field, in the classroom, and with the family; Logan brightened the mood. Logan’s infectious crooked smile, outgoing personality, and humor left an unforgettable impact on everyone. Logan was a son, a brother, an athlete, and an amazing human being.

Logan always had a good heart. He didn’t care who you were or where you came from, he would make you feel like a friend and bring a smile to your face. Logan was a passionate person. He cared deeply for all his friends and for all of the animals at home who greeted him. Logan was also a determined individual. He pushed himself to be the best teammate on both the soccer and track team. And when he graduated high school, he channeled that determination and passion towards his goals in college.

Logan was able to combine his passion, determination, and humor to drive those around him to be the best they could be. Both on and off the field Logan brought people together in a way that only natural leader could. His determination and passion radiated to his teammates and his humor knit the team together. He could carry you through the wins and the losses with a smile on your face and that is what a leader is.

The world lost an amazing leader and person that day in April, but this is an opportunity to carry on his legacy. Those with an innate ability to bring people together, like Logan, are meant to be leaders. This leadership development program will teach a student-athlete the skills and attitudes necessary to make those around them the best that they can be.

About Sports Challenge

Sports Challenge is a 9-day residential sports and leadership academy hosted at the St. Andrew's School in Middletown, Delaware. For 20 years, Sports Challenge has brought together student-athletes from across the country to develop their sport and leadership skills.

We believe leadership is a skill that can be learned and should be practiced with the same determination that student-athletes apply to sport. Leadership is not necessarily positional - a leader does not have to be a person with a title or an outgoing personality. Leadership is personal and each individual can positively impact their team and community by leading with their own style. Taking the time to self-reflect and learn to be a better leader allows student-athletes to find success on and off the playing field.

This scholarship has been created in Logan's memory to celebrate the way that he embodied the core values of Sports Challenge, particularly Value #5 - Choose Laughter.

How You Can Help

This scholarship will provide the opportunity for a student-athlete from Logan's alma mater, Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk High School, to attend Sports Challenge this summer. Please make a donation to this scholarship to keep Logan's values and spirit a part of the RCS community.
