Here's the Deal: In the immortal words of Whitesnake, "Here I go again on my owwwwn..." It's the Luke's Wings "Walk to Fly" time again, and I'm participating to help unite wounded veterans with their loved ones during recovery. As a Reagan Airport USO volunteer, we see a fair number of folks on their way to and from Walter Reed, and trust me when I say they are entirely deserving of your donation. Soldiers can be in recovery for more than a year, and they need visits from friends and family to keep their spirits up. They don't ask for anything, so I'd like to give them everything.
What I'm Doing: I'm hoping to raise $700, which covers the cost of two full flights.
What you get: Just like last year, if you donate (any amount) I will fulfill one silly or serious request - whatever you ask, I'm game! But this year I'm ramping it up - if you donate $40 or more, I will needlepoint ANYTHING you want in a 2"x3" space and frame that sucker for ya. Want your college logo? DONE. Want your child's initials? Absolutely. Want to make a Christmas ornament from the Batman symbol? My PLEASURE.
Just a reminder that the Luke's Wings team is tiny but mighty (there are only five staff members!), so they operate with very little overhead. Rest assured that your donation is going to its intended purpose - if a veteran or their loved one needs a flight, Luke's Wings gets them that flight.
