My tenure with Lollipop began in 2006 at Focus Features. One of the reasons I feel I gravitated towards this organization was my own background.
I was born two months premature and with hydrocephalus. This necessitated having a ventricular-peritoneal shunt placed on my brain – something that is still in place today. This is a fancy way of saying that I had brain surgery at several days old. Thus began a journey going in and out of hospitals until I was a teenager. Also included were more PT and OP sessions than I care to count.
When I was introduced to Lollipop, I thought how I would have been overjoyed if something like that was around back then.
Hospitals can be a scary place. As simple or trivial as a movie or a game might seem - that one moment of relaxation can do wonders for a child.
The Lollipop team is incredibly dedicated and they make sure each and every child they interact with has the chance to escape into the wonderful world of movies and entertainment - if only for a short time. But they need help, and that's where YOU come in.
By donating whatever you can, it ensures children across the country, who are not able to leave the confines of a hospital, can enjoy some of life's simple pleasures.
This year, I had the honor of becoming the Co-Chairman of Lollipop's Advisory Board (along with our Chair, the unstoppable Dana Glauberman). I would like to show the team what my friends, family, and co-workers are capable of. Together we can ensure that Lollipop not only continues - but flourishes so that even more children can experience what this wonderful organization has to offer.
Thanks for reading this.
