Lolo's Legacy - Mulanay Typhoon Relief
Organized by: Jennifer Waldinger
On July 16, Typhoon Glenda hit the Philippines, killing approximately 100 people and destroying thousands of homes and businesses. Mulanay, a town of over 50,000 people in the Quezon province, was one of the hardest hit. People are still without power and the banana plantations, coconut trees and other crops - the mainstay of Mulanay's economy - were completely destroyed. Mulanay is very special to me because it is where my grandparents were born and raised; and it's the site of my family's ancestral home, which was also destroyed by the typhoon. My "Lolo" (which means grandfather in Filipino) passed away a few days before his 97th birthday last year. This collection is in tribute to him and the beloved town he called home.
