THE STORY:
This fundraiser is to raise awareness of maternal mental health, reduce stigma of mental disorders and encourage community involvement, outreach and support for all of the moms and families out there affected by these diseases. The formation of this particular team is in honor of Jen Knarr and her husband and infant son that were tragically lost to post-partum psychosis in March 2016. This terrible tragedy has been a shock to our community. Jen Knarr was a wonderful person, amazing mom and Fish, Wildlife and Parks Game Warden in the Gallatin Valley for past 8 years. Her vivacious spirit, never-ending energy and zest for life makes this climb a perfect way to honor her and her families passing.
Please consider joining this team for a wonderful cause and to honor all of the moms out there that have struggled with any of the varying degrees of post-partum mental disease. You are not alone and you are understood and accepted in this group, whether you a survivor, a friend or family member whose been affected or just want to support other moms and families. Let's prevent this tragedy from happening in our community again by banding together! Join the team, be an advocate, consider a financial donation and/or share your story with others. Our goal is to hike Hyalite Peak or the lower, more mellow water falls down low. We will be meeting at the Grotto Falls trailhead at 10 am, June 18th. Please join us in this worthy cause.
