It's Tail Wagging Wednesday!

Looking Glass Animal Rescue is a new nonprofit volunteer-based animal welfare organization based in Ridgefield, CT that officially launched in December 2015. The name was chosen because of its symbolic meaning toward our mission: “Through the looking glass, things are not as they appear to be.”
While we officially launched in December of 2015, our experience in animal welfare far surpasses the inception date. The team continues to grow as well with the addition of experienced trainers, shelters, veterinarians and volunteers who are all dedicated to working toward a day when no companion animal is euthanized for lack of a home.
As an all-volunteer nonprofit, the lifeblood of Looking Glass animal Rescue are our foster homes and other volunteers who work tirelessly to give each animal in their care the love and attention they have for so long forgone. With their help and all of the current donors and supporters we have been able to save 90 animals since December.
Yet we struggle as there are so many more we would like to save but cannot because of the potential cost associated with their medical and/or behavioral treatment.
By helping support LGAR in this challenge, you will allow us to defray some of these costs giving us the opportunity to rescue more of the sick, abused and neglected animals—the most unwanted of the unwanted—that find themselves languishing within the shelter system. Many of these animals would not make it out of the shelters alive given the financial burdens their medical ailments would place on a would-be adopter. With your help we can continue to fulfill our mission for the many abandoned animals who sit in wait for their new life to begin.
100% of all donations made from this grant and challenge will go straight to our special needs dogs as they fight for life. These funds will help to provide for medical and behavioral care so the animals can finally become the cherished family pets they have been patiently waiting to become.
Look what donor gifts have provided for just a few of our orphaned animals in just six months:
“Buddy is a 1.5 year old Lab mix who was fighting for his life as he suffered from a very serious case of heartworm.. Hospitalized in March this year, he suffered from 4 embolic events, collapsing and losing breath as a clot moved through his heart that nearly killed him. Actually, technically it did. Our vet had to do chest compression's to revive him. That was a phone call that should have never happened...”
Buddy has since recovered from this acute state and continues his treatment. He has many more months to go before being given full clearance to “resume life” as a normal dog. Sadly, this could have all been prevented had his previous owners given him a simple monthly pill to prevent the heartworm from ever entering his bloodstream via a mosquito bite.
Luckily Buddy has now found his furever home and is on the road to recovery to live a full life. He like many others are what drives Looking Glass Animal Rescue to continue what we do.
Thank you for your support, the LGAR team
