Loose Change for Education
Organized by: Hannah Williams
Recently I have felt like I should stop wishing that change would happen but rather take action... "Be the change you want to see in the world". Nigeria has always had a soft spot in my heart as my family has strong ties to the country. My grandma was born there, my mom spent some of her life there, my cousins went to help, and my other cousins live there and run a widows school. It is hard for any girl to receive an education let alone widow's daughters. Most of them will never have the chance to an education while I am so blessed to have the opportunity to receive free secondary education and with the help of the government, go to post-secondary school. It is my goal to send as many girls as I can to school. I have started a loose change fundraiser at my local church but want to expand this fundraiser online to see if I can get any more donations. My goal offline and online is $1000 and that will roughly be enough to put three girls through school which includes food, tuition, books and other costs for a year. All the money is going to the widow's daughters at the school my cousins are running. This is three more girls going to school that would have not had the opportunity otherwise. Any amount is valued, small or large. Together, let's take action instead of wishing for change.
