The creation of this ride has morphed from my 13 year olds Girl Scout project. My daughters grandparents’ are both breast cancer survivors and she decided she wanted to focus her Silver Award on helping fight breast cancer. Coming from an equestrian home we came across a Ride for the Cure which had been successfully occurring in the northeast part of Connecticut for close to fifteen years. Our hope is that we can have that same success in the southwest part of Connecticut.
Connecticut has the highest incidence of breast cancer in the country and for those of us who ride what better way to help fight the battle then riding our mounts while raising money.
The opportunity for mothers and daughters to ride side by side knowing they were helping fight breast cancer. Having my mother and mother in-law as breast cancer survivors I am ever so grateful for the thousands of people who have donated time, money and much more to help the breast cancer cause. That help has facilitated the ability to use the word survivor more often in many families. We hope you will participate on the first annual ride on October 24, 2015 in support.
