stuff about me...... alriiiite alriiiiiiite
So I wanna have a serious approach on this, yet I find my comedic side wishing to relieve my nerves and help me get my point across. Asking for money??? something I hate doing, however.. its not actually for Me, its for Cure for Cancers, a charity in which I will be running the La Marathon for and a charity that is linked with Locks of Love.
Locks of Love is a charity that I got in contact with about 6 yrs ago. Ppl always complimented me on my long hair and a friend suggested that I donate it... So i said, 'WTH r u nuts"?!?!?! lol. (well i thought it).. lol.. and after a few weeks of thinking it over, and realizing the impact I would have on children and women who lost their hair due to cancer, I decided to go through with it. =) It was 1 of the best decisions I have ever made. Now its kind of a ritual.. or routine, if you will. I grow my hair for a yr & a half and go to my local salon where they chop off my 14-17 inches of hair. It honestly feels great knowing that I'm helping. AAAAAnd it grows back! Talk about money growing on trees! =P I've donated 4 times in 6 yrs.. my hair grows extremely fast & ppl suggest I sell it, but i think the way I go about it is better =)
I originally wanted to run for American Red Cross, however the city I planned to run for was taken, so i focused more on a charity In which Im actually a proud donor of. Im also a proud donor of the American Red Cross and thats ANOTHER charity in which what you donate renews lol seriously! =)
I planned on running the Marathon for myself; especially because my Dr. told me my life would never be the same after having a bimalleolar ankle fracture and permanenty scarring my ankle/leg. I'm running the Marathon with an ankle that has a steel plate and 5 screws in it. I've had 2 surgeries; 1st surgery inserting the plate, screws, metal wires, and steel rods, and the 2nd surgery removing the rods and wires.I started thinking... Ppl run with prosthetic limbs.... ppl do the marathon in wheelchairs... why shouldn't I be able to run???.... sooooo I got together with 2 friends from work and we agreed to run the LA Marathon. I wrote up a contract stating that we would run & if we didnt, we'd pay the opposing parties 100$ each. lol The contract was for fun... yet looking at it posted in my office gives me motivation =) ... and look.....we're running =) (I'll post a pic of the contract in a couple of days) =)
OKAY! So, that being said, and giving you a little summary of it all... Im not asking for your hair; I'm not asking for your blood....I'm not even asking you to run... I'm asking for a few dollars to make a difference in this world... to be a part of a movement in which we will exterminate a threat to LIFE. I know for a fact that Im not the fastest running the LA Marathon... I'm not the strongest...im not the most in-shape nor the most strong-willed person BUT IM MAKING A DIFFERENCE! And by supporting my cause, you will too.
