Los Angelitos Orphanage
Organized by: Tomas Zurita
For years the Los Angelitos Orphanage has been providing a home for children of the streets of Tijuana, Mexico. Many of these children have been abandoned by their parents and sentenced to a future of poverty. Founder Ed Perry decided that he would do something to make a difference for these children and opened up the Los Angelitos Orphanage to give them a new future. They receive no help from the government, and rely entirely on charitable donations to fund their cause. So far, countless children have been helped and placed into loving homes. Many of these children have gone on to college with dreams of becoming doctors, lawyers, and businessmen. However, Los Angelitos needs your help to continue to build a new dormitory so that they can bring in even more children off the streets, as it is currently going through construction, and recent decreases in funding have put the build to a halt.
For the past years, IMED has been making it a mission to help the Los Angelitos Orphanage by raising money through general member donations and multiple fundraisers. We also travel to the orphanage once every other month to visit the children, bring smiles to their faces, and teach them healthy living habits. However, again, due to the recent lack of funds, Ed Perry has been struggling to pay for the orphanage's utilities and food. As a result, IMED and FIMRC at UCSD are seeking help from outside sources to help these children even more.
Please consider donating even a small amount so that the orphanage project can be jump started again to give more children a new hope for a brighter future!
