BENEFITING: LOST LAKE RUN
EVENT DATE: Aug 26, 2017
Cystic fibrosis (CF) is a genetic disorder that affects mostly the lungs, but also the pancreas, liver, kidneys, and intestine. There is no known cure for CF at this time, but treatment includes antibiotics, respiratory treatment and lung transplant.
Our team races for two brothers that have this disease, Dan and Scott McDonald. We are lucky enough to call these two fine men our friends and know that they have been through a lot in the course of dealing with this disease. Dan has had a double lung transplant, and Scott continues on the course of his breathing treatments. Both are still living their lives, enjoying their family and friends as much as possible.
Unfortunately, they have both struggled at times and make regular trips to the hospital. Dan in particular has gone from struggling to walk around a block or even in the house to knowing what it is like to breath freely and deeply again after the first double lung transplant, thus giving him the ability to walk and even hike. Unfortunately he is now going through the process again, having lost the ability to breath and basically being homebound.
Our team wants to find a cure for this disease, to allow our friends as well as all people who live with this disease to be able to enjoy the same things most of us take for granted. Please think about giving to this valuable cause and helping to support finding a cure for this disease that affects 1 in 3,000 people
