When Starbuck was 3 months old, she was thrown out of a moving vehicle and left for dead. Luckily she was found by a police officer and who brought her to the vet. The vet was able to save her, but in order to do so they had to amputate her leg. The rescue was notified and without ever knowing this puppy, they came to pick her up and paid her $1,500 vet bill. They taught her to stand, to walk, and run again! Within a month she had been rehabilitated, spayed, gotten all her vaccinations, and was given love. By June 8th she went to her first adoption event. Where I decided to foster her, and a week later became a proud foster failure! We are so grateful for all the people who worked so hard (and previously donated to the rescue so this could happen) and gave her a second chance at life.
For a little puppy she had a pretty rough start. The worst thing about it? It's a lot more common than you think, and her story isn't the worst of them. The rescue has taken in, rehabilitated and adopted lab rats, dogs that have been set on fire, shot in the head and the list goes on and on. They do so much amazing work and we just want to raise what we can to help out. My goal of $1,500 seems like a lot, but that's just what they paid for her surgery. Imagine that, plus vaccinations, getting spayed, food, and shelter. And that's only for one dog! Another amazing thing about this rescue, is they work so well with other rescues, if they have room for extra dogs, or if they can spare any supplies or donations. They truely do it for the love of all animals! Please if you can donate or share that would be so wonderful! Thank you!
