BENEFITING: H2O FOR LIFE
From May 16, 2016 to June 7, 2016 qualifying Loudoun Valley seniors are excused from classes in order to pursue a community service project or career development opportunity. Called the Viking Capstone, students must complete a total of 80 hours at their host sites over the three-week time period. To kick off the Viking Capstone, on May 16th, all qualifying seniors will participate in an Induction ceremony that includes a school-wide service project. The Viking Capstone Team cannot think of a better way to show students that they can help solve a global issue locally than partnering with H2O for Life. Viking Capstone participants will walk 3km with a gallon of water to raise money to fully fund a well for our partner school in Uganda whose students do not have access to clean water. The Viking Capstone Team requests that all participants raise at least $20 and supply their own gallon of water. Parents and community members are encouraged to volunteer at the event. Please contact Ms. Kimberly Vegliante (Kimberly.Vegliante@lcps.org) if you wish to volunteer.
