Love in Action Malawi is a local Christian organization that provides after-school academic and nutrition programs for the children in the villages of Kaphatenga, Kambwiri and Mnima, Malawi.
Malawi has a 30% literacy rate. Most schools in the country are substandard and understaffed, with one teacher serving over 200 children. The dropout rate is overwhelming: only 50% of children complete primary school. For girls, the graduation rate is just 30%.
Most of the kids are hungry, and are lucky to share one meal a day with their families, so a decent meal it is an incentive to get them to attend the program. For many kids, it’s the only food tat they will have all day.
The only way to break the cycle of poverty in these villages, and give these kids a chance, is to feed them and get them to school. $300 per week will help Love In Action Malawi serve approximately 90 children. That’s $15,600.00 for one year. Please give what you can.
