Welcome to my fundraising page. My efforts, in training for and running the Luang Prabang Half Marathon: “La Procession”, will hopefully raise much needed funds for a paediatric hospital and medical training facilities in Laos.
Unique among Asia's destination races, the local community and its supporters pay for the race costs, so that all the money raised by runners - including our race fees - can go to supporting a local project. This year, they have chosen to help fund the building of Lao Friends Hospital for Children (LFHC), by Friends Without A Border, to bring desperately needed high-quality and compassionate healthcare to the children of Laos. Slated to open in early 2015, LFHC will apply a 360 approach to healthcare using the model of Treatment + Education + Prevention - in addition to a pediatric hospital, it will also be a teaching hospital as well as providing community outreach to teach health promotion and disease prevention.
Already I have donated my race fees and more to this charity, and would really appreciate your support to help FWAB and the Luang Prabang community build something really meaningful for the people in the area. My goal is to contribute $1000 to the cause. I am on my way, but I will need some help to get there.
If you would like to support this effort to bring quality health care to a beautiful country's children and create opportunities for self-sufficiency within the Lao health care system, send me a message and I'll get in touch with further details.
Thank you for your support and creating a healthier future for the children of Laos!
