LUCK, Inc.’s sole mission is to safeguard the community… to prevent further victimization and crime… through the training, educating, and mentoring of society’s most at-risk populations.
Currently, LUCK is contracted to guide Returning Citizens (parolees) towards a successful reintegration back into the community and their families. LUCK is responsible for the mentorship of just over 200 parolees and that number is rising. LUCK is only contracted to provide cognitive behavioral training, peer-to-peer mentorship, and family reunification counseling. Unfortunately, over 70% of LUCK clients suffer from unmet basic needs of housing, transportation, and phones, to the warmth of a safe and nurturing environment, emotional security after years of trauma, and the interpersonal skills to communicate those tangible and intangible needs. The common themes amongst those who re-offend amongst our client population are those clients who lack the safe and stable housing and the consistent transportation for job and school engagements.
LUCK is developing a housing program for it’s most at-risk clients who are in dire need of a stable place to live as we coach them towards success. Take Mr. Walter Riley for example that was released from prison just months ago, at the age of 70, after serving 37 ½ consecutive years behind bars. All of Mr. Riley’s family has passed away and, as he has warmly expressed, “LUCK is my family.” Mr. Riley left prison with janitorial skills. Sadly, he was not empowered with the skills to interdependently succeed in today’s world. LUCK has hired Mr. Riley to be LUCK Headquarters full-time janitor. In addition, we are aggressively developing stable housing for Mr. Riley to live as we guide him towards his meaning and purpose beyond the fences. (Please watch video)
