BENEFITING: Southern California Golden Retriever Rescue
Luckie was born missing part of his front right leg - it's about 2 inches too short with some semblance of a blackened, twisted paw but missing some long bones. He found his way to Southern California Golden Retriever Rescue at the age of 9 after his lifetime owner moved to a 2 story house. He doesn't move to well so lived a pretty sedentary life and has packed on the pounds and his remaining joints have started to suffer - especially the front left which bears the brunt of his weight. He tries to use the leg and on rough surfaces will break the skin and bleed. His body curves in an effort to help balance himself. Check out his hopping about!
In his current state, his wonderful foster family has started to get him out and about for "walks" with the help of a donated wagon which he enjoys very much and has put him on a diet which he doesn't like so much ;-> He has even been to the dog park. But we want more for this amazing pup who loves affection - uses his head to move your arm when you stop petting him - and would love to follow you about the house like a true velcro Golden. He also looks like he wants to play when other dogs do but he can't. Luckie needs help!
Luckie is an amazing candidate for a prosthetic leg which will give him mobility in his remaining years, help him lose the weight and take the burden of his other limbs. And it can be done without any surgery!! Physical therapy will help him build muscle to start moving correctly. It's not a cheap endeavor and we need YOUR HELP to fund his new leg and rehabilitation. Will you help make him the Luckie dog his name suggests?
