This will be my 3rd consecutive year running the NYC Marathon for The Jimmy V Foundation For Cancer Research as a community project. I would like to give a big "thank you" to all of the stores/businesses that have supported this worthy cause with a donation making the first 2 years a tremendous success! Let's keep that streak going and let's make this 3rd year the best one of all!
Hi and thanks for coming to my community fundraising page. I'm reaching out to my local community and hope that all the businesses that our neighborhoods support will in turn support this community project back with a donation. Every donation is 100% tax deductible and every dollar goes towards cancer research. As a lifetime New Yorker, running the NYC Marathon has always been a dream of mine! Having both a father and sister who are cancer survivors, as well as other close family members such as uncles and cousins who have been affected by this illness, I'm running the NYC Marathon for Team V which represents The Jimmy V Foundation for Cancer Research. I hope you can find it in your heart and make a donation to our fundraiser as I'm sure each and every one of you knows someone who has been affected by cancer. Here's your chance to give back and support your local community project as well as a worthwhile charity that will hopefully one day find a cure for this illness. From the bottom of my heart I thank you.
Sincerely, Luis Munoz

The V Foundation was founded by ESPN and former award-winning NC State basketball coach Jim Valvano. Coach Valvano was diagnosed with cancer in 1993. When he created the Foundation, he knew that it was too late for research to save him. But he spent his last months alive creating a legacy of hope for others diagnosed with this debilitating disease.
In the past 22 years, The V Foundation has awarded more than $150 million to cancer research and related programs nationwide.
Jim Valvano’s “Don’t Give Up . . . Don’t Ever Give Up!” spirit is alive now more than ever. And it is the perfect motto to carry us through the largest marathon in the world. With continued support, we will forge ahead with innovative research. Your donation will make a difference and together we will save lives.
